At Coastal Roots Farm, we rely on volunteers to drive our mission of "nourishing community" and strive to provide meaningful opportunities for our community members to give back.
Volunteering Opportunities:
Seasonal Farm tasks to help maintain our Education Farm and Gardens - our living laboratory for youth programming. Students, campers, and Farmers-in-Training of all ages use the Education Farm and Gardens to practice growing skills and to harvest farm-fresh snacks. Sunday in the Soil tasks may include weeding, mulching, planting, harvesting, bed prep, staining, light construction, and general maintenance to ensure visitor safety.
Seasonal farm tasks to support our Production Team in vegetable fields and in the Food Forest. The Farm's Production Team grows about 80,000 pounds of organic produce each year and donates more than 80% to community members experiencing food insecurity. Rise and Shine tasks may include weeding, mulching, planting, harvesting, and bed prep.
Waivers and pre-registration are required. Waivers for volunteers under 18 must be signed by a parent or guardian.
Volunteers under the age of 14 must volunteer with an accompanying adult and should be old enough to safely use tools and follow instructions. We ask that children are always under adult supervision and that adults are responsible for helping to differentiate tasks for their children. If your child is too young to make volunteering a meaningful experience, we invite families with young children to check out our Nature Play program!
