MISSION
Coastal Roots Farm cultivates healthy, connected communities by integrating sustainable agriculture, food justice, and ancient Jewish wisdom.
VISION
We envision a world in which every community comes together to grow and share healthy food, care for the land, help their neighbors, and strengthen the connections they have with each other.
WHAT WE DO
Coastal Roots Farm is a nonprofit Jewish community farm and education center where we practice organic farming, share our harvest with those who lack access, deliver unique farm-based education, and foster inclusive spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together to celebrate Jewish life and catalyze a healthier, more vibrant community and a more sustainable future for the region.

VALUES
The Farm's Jewish values inform it's strategy, approach, and priorities and include:
THIS LAND
Located on a larger 67-acre property known as Leichtag Commons in Encinitas, CA, Coastal Roots Farm stewards 17-acres consisting of vegetable production fields, an education farm and gardens, a "food forest", chickens, and compost operations.
Coastal Roots Farm recognizes and honors this land as indigenous to the Kumeyaay and nearby Luiseño peoples and recognizes that acknowledgment in itself is not enough.
Agriculture has a history built upon systems of exploitation (of land, resources, and people), and these systems still perpetuate social inequity today. We are committed to partnerships that benefit and support local indigenous communities and seek to continue deepening our understanding of the history of colonialization.
E3 COLLABORATIVE
We are located in a unique neighborhood at the center of what was once the “flower growing capital of the world.” Our property is contiguous to seven other nonprofit organizations, all offering multi-generational education and community building, which together form the Encinitas Environmental Education (E3) Collaborative.
The members of the E3 Collaborative are:
Leichtag Foundation
Encinitas Union School District Farm Lab
Magdalena Ecke YMCA
San Diego Botanic Garden
San Dieguito Heritage Museum
Seacrest Village Retirement Communities
