FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE WITH SOIL
Soil health is essential in cultivating a thriving ecosystem and is the foundation of regenerative food production. Building soil health promotes biodiversity, increases resilience to pests and disease, reduces erosion, maintains moisture, and eliminates the need for chemicals that harm people and planet.
At Coastal Roots Farm, we prioritize building soil organic matter to sequester carbon and diverting waste, creating our own compost and preventing methane from entering the atmosphere.
GOOD SOIL MAKES GOOD FOOD
We build healthy, fertile soil by rotating crops and chickens through our fields to produce nutrient-dense food for our neighbors in need. Each year, we grow more than 80,000 pounds of food and donate more than 75% of our harvest to San Diegans facing food insecurity, all while taking care of our planet.
We are proud to be a part of what is a much larger global movement for environmental sustainability. This is our humble contribution to a larger food system in need of much repair.
