Coastal Roots Farm Names Megan Freeman Director of Programs

Oct 8, 2026 by Erin Taylor

Dear friends of Coastal Roots Farm,

I’m thrilled to share that Megan Freeman has been named Coastal Roots Farm’s new Director of Programs.

Megan has been part of the Farm for nearly eight years, beginning as one of our first educators and growing through roles as Education Coordinator, Education Manager, and now Director of Programs. Along the way, she has helped shape much of what our education work is today - building the field trip, volunteer, and internship programs; weaving Jewish thought and ritual into our programming; developing staff; and deepening partnerships across the region.

Megan brings more than a decade of experience in environmental education and sustainable agriculture, along with a deep understanding of the Farm’s Jewish values, traditions, and communal role that she has developed throughout her years here. She has embraced that work with curiosity, humility, and commitment, and has become a trusted representative of the Farm’s values and spirit. Her participation in the Giborim leadership cohort has further strengthened her relationships and perspective within the local Jewish community.

In her new role, Megan will lead strategy and execution across the Farm’s full program portfolio, including youth and adult education, Jewish holiday programs, community events, volunteer and internship experiences, and other public-facing programs. She will oversee the team behind that work, strengthen the systems and coordination that support high-quality programs, and represent the Farm with schools, synagogues, community organizations, donors, partners, and other stakeholders.

Just as importantly, Megan will champion one of the Farm’s most distinctive opportunities: bringing environmental education and Jewish life into deeper relationship with one another. She will help ensure our programs remain mission-aligned, operationally strong, and responsive to this moment in our community, while continuing to create meaningful opportunities for people to connect with land, Jewish wisdom, and one another.

Megan understands the Farm deeply and has consistently demonstrated the judgment, care, and collaborative leadership this role demands. We are incredibly proud to recognize her growth with this well-deserved promotion and excited for what she will bring to this next chapter of Coastal Roots Farm.
