Meet the Artists
Regenerate! celebrates the culmination of the Jewish Climate Artists for California (JCAC) Incubator, a nine-month program bringing together artists from across California to create bold new work at the intersection of Judaism and the climate crisis.
These artists have been exploring how storytelling, movement, music, and ritual can help us respond to today’s ecological challenges—and their original works premiere at this festival.
Heavy Meadow
Mountain Bard Singer Heavy Meadow, together with collaborator Jake Chapman, forms the band Brother Man, and will present "Hear This Hereness"—a mostly improvised show of songs and stories.
Michelle Shofet
Landscape architect and "ritual happenings" creator Michelle Shofet reveals an immersive group experience in the middle of the Food Forest where you journey from climate grief to healing.
Livya Howard-Yashar
Choreographer Livya Howard-Yashar offers an earthy, vibrant group dance piece exploring exile and the Garden of Eden called Keepers of the Slow World.
Dan Schifrin
Playwright Dan Schifrin shares a selection from At Rise, his funny new play unpacking Jewish mysticism, complete with live music
Regenerate! An Eco-Performance Fest is hosted in partnership with JFEST: San Diego.
Regenerate! is supported in part by Vivien Ressler.
By choosing to attend the whole festival, you can experience ALL the performances. If you choose to attend just Part 1 or 2, you will see two of the four performances. For both Part 1 or 2, you will have the choice between Stream A or B.
Stream A includes a bold play and joyful dance performance, and will be viewed seated. Stream B includes an experience in our Food Forest, with songs and stories (seated if you wish) and a immersive ritual that promises to light you up inside.
At Regenerate!, the performances are happening across our farm, and not just on a stage with a seated audience. In addition to traditional viewing, we also have dancers jumping out of mulch, music wafting through production fields, and the chance to walk our farm with the artists. In other words -- immerse yourself in the experience of creativity, spring, and ancient Jewish wisdom come alive!
While Regenerate! is geared towards adults, children that are used to enjoying performances without disturbing other audience members are welcome to come and take part in the festival too.
We will serve a variety of vegetarian food, locally and lovingly made, showcasing Farm produce and all strictly kosher. Imagine falafel, salads, cheeses, spreads, yummy breads, deserts, fruits, and a great cocktail. A delicious spring repast!
All performances are accessible for folks of varying abilities. If you have accessibility needs, we will drive you to each specific performance, and you can stay seated thoughout. You do not need to walk or stand at any point if you prefer not to.
People of all backgrounds are welcome! Anyone can enjoy all performances and have a great time. This is art for ANYONE yearning to feel uplifted, hopeful, and inspired.
