Dear Friends of the Farm,
We stand in solidarity with our neighbors at the Islamic Center of San Diego and the broader Muslim community following yesterday’s violent attack at the mosque. We are holding all those impacted as they navigate grief, fear, and uncertainty. May the memories of those lost be a blessing.
We are deeply grateful to the first responders, security professionals, staff, and community members who acted swiftly to protect lives and care for others.
As news spread yesterday, Jewish organizations across San Diego, including Coastal Roots Farm, moved into lockdown and heightened security protocols. Events like these reverberate far beyond one place. As a Jewish organization, we know the experience of urgent check-ins, locked doors, and concern for sacred and communal spaces. It is a reality too many faith communities know intimately.
At Coastal Roots Farm, we believe a nourished community is not only one that is fed, but one that is safe, welcomed, and cared for.
At the Farm, we know all living things are interconnected, and we remain committed to being a place of connection, belonging, and community care. Here, people of different backgrounds, faiths, and experiences can gather, share food, learn from one another, and build relationships across lines of difference.
We send our care and condolences to the Islamic Center of San Diego and to Muslim communities here in San Diego and around the world.
May we all continue choosing compassion, understanding, and arevut - mutual care and responsibility for one another.
In grief and gratitude,
Kesha Dorsey
Interim CEO
